Sunday Seven: One Trumps All Others

This week I’m not listing seven things because one thing trumps everything else and deserves to be mentioned alone.

Yesterday my daughter related to me that during literature class a discussion regarding divorce came up. A student mentioned the Bible and what it might say regarding divorce. The teacher lamented she didn’t have a copy of the Bible with her.

Out came my daughter’s very worn Bible she carries along with her in her handbag. The verses were looked up and class continued.

I’m so very thankful my daughter feels that comfortable with her peers to talk the talk as well as walk the walk.

Happy Weekend!

I have to assume that your daughter is attending a private Christian school! (where Bibles would be allowed to be brought out in class!) YAY for the daughter! :)

That is a great incident to recount for our encouragement. I hope I am right that my 14-year-old granddaughter would feel just as comfortable doing the same thing as your very special girl! So many kids that age are so hardened and want so much to be "bad"!

You must be so proud of her and rightly so! Way to go!

Thanks for visiting everyone. I hope to make my rounds later on this afternoon as I am on my way to church, however, I wanted to address Melli's comment first.

My daughter did attend public school until grade 7 when a discipline issue involving another student who harmed my daughter was not addressed. We finally had to press charges....

My daughter did attend a Christian school for grades 7 and 8, but is now back in public school.

Yes,she brought her Bible out in a public school classroom. It is not against the law for students or teachers to bring a Bible to school or to have one on their desks. Teachers should not give the salvation message, but it is perfectly ok for them to use references to the Bible when using it in a historical way or when addressing certain issues in literature.

Perhaps it is easier here in the Bible belt, but as long as the line regarding "preaching" is not crossed there generally are no problems. :)
